Wat Benchamabophit

Golden Buddha in Wat Benchamabophit. This is a copy of the more famous Phra Phuttha Chinnarat in Phitsanulok. The ashes of King Rama V are contained in the base.

Reclining Buddha, Wat Pho

The Reclining Buddha in Wat Pho (Wat Phrea Chetuphon),  in Bangkok. The Buddha is 46 metres long and 15 metres high and it illustrates the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. The figure is modelled out of plaster around a brick core and finished in gold leaf. Mother-of-pearl inlay ornaments the eyes and feet of the colossal image, the feet displaying 108 different characteristics of a Buddha.
